12" ATCO Standard 9 Blade 1921
Charles Henry Pugh Company Ltd. Birmingham.
Originally ATCO named from Atlas Chain Company 1921
Charles Henry Pugh was born in 1840 in Newtown Montgomery. Unfortunately he never lived long enough to see his first lawnmower. The company produced the first mass produced petrol lawnmower, powered by a 1½ horsepower Villiers 2 stroke engine.
This was one of the first Atco models to be manufactured. The 9 blade cutter would give an excellent finish. A lot of detailing was put into the machine note the brass gauges, fittings and tool rack, integral throttle and choke lever. This a beautiful example of the workmanship from over 80 years ago.
